Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why contains more information than is in those articles. Those who are skeptical, can also read the comments of the medical and health professionals who have endorsed the book! Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why is the culmination of over 10 years of study and investigation. I wrote the book first and foremost to educate and inform. I would not be telling you about this book if I did not sincerely believe that it is one of the most comprehensive, accurate and easy to understand books of its kind on the market today.

9. Does the book cover supplements that do not work? Yes. For some supplements, there is a difference between what the advertisements want you to believe and what the evidence says. When evidence exists that a supplement may have effects that are not generally advertised (both positive and negative), you receive that information also.

10. Does the book list side effects? Yes. Every major supplement listed is reviewed for its side effects. This includes those side effects that are known to exist as well as those which medical and health experts think might occur. For example, if a supplement lowers blood sugar, then it might also interact with medications that diabetics may be taking. This information not only makes you a more informed consumer but also helps you discuss your conditions and needs better with your physician and other health care professionals.

11. How can I trust the information in the book? Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why has 851 references to back up its conclusions. The vast majority of these references are documented, clinical studies—the very best kind of evidence! Most facts are also referenced right in the text of the book. For example, if the statement is made that glucosamine helps arthritis, there is a reference after that sentence so that you can go back to the bibliography and see that study for yourself. References that can be viewed online also contain their internet address so that you can enter this information into your computer and read the information online. This makes the book perfect for not only consumers but also students studying nutrition, massage therapy, nursing, chiropractic medicine, supplements, exercise science and other health-related fields.

12. Is the book anti-supplement? Absolutely not! Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why has no hidden agenda of any kind. I spent over 10 years studying, investigating and writing about supplements because I wanted to help people save money, time and frustration and empower them with the knowledge to ask the right questions and choose supplements wisely. Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why is about the documented, clinical evidence for supplements— without any bias, hype, spin or testimonials of any kind. If a supplement has evidence that it does what it is supposed to do or has beneficial effects—as many supplements do—you get that proof. When evidence exists that a supplement may not live up to its expectations, you get that information as well. Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why pulls no punches! One of the main goals of the book is to empower you with the information you need to see both sides of the story and choose supplements that might be best for you.

13. Is the book pro-supplement? Absolutely not! Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why is neither pro-supplement or anti-supplement. When a beneficial effect is found for a supplement and is backed up by good science, you will learn about it. When the research finds that a supplement may not do what you think, you get that information also. The bottom line is that the book calls it right down the middle and gives you both sides of the issue. There is little doubt that once you open the pages of Nutritional Supplements: What Works and Why, you will soon find yourself discovering answers to questions that you have always wondered about! That’s because the book was written with YOU and your questions in mind.
